Supply and fit, or fit-only

We work both ways. If you've already chosen and purchased a kitchen, we fit it. If you want us to supply and fit, we work with trusted kitchen suppliers to source units and worktops at competitive rates and take responsibility for the whole job.

Fit-only is usually the right approach when you have a specific kitchen in mind or have already had it designed and ordered. It's important to have a conversation before delivery though: kitchen units need to land on a level floor, walls need to be reasonably plumb, and the delivery date needs to work with the installation programme. Arriving on site to find units in a pile in the living room the day before the old kitchen is stripped out is not ideal for anyone. We'd rather talk through the logistics upfront.

For larger projects combining a kitchen with other works, see home renovation for how we sequence multi-room projects.

Plumbing and appliances

A new kitchen almost always involves at least a new sink and tap, and often a dishwasher, washing machine, or both. We handle all of that: supply pipework run to the right positions, waste runs with the correct fall and trap, appliance connections with isolating valves. Boiling water taps are increasingly common in kitchen refits and need a specific connection to a cold water supply as well as an electrical spur: we factor that in from the start if it's part of the plan.

Where the pipework needs re-routing because the new layout positions the sink differently to the old one, or a washing machine is moving from the utility room into the kitchen, we do that as part of the installation. It's all part of the same job, not a separate plumbing call-out. For detailed information on the plumbing side, see kitchen plumbing.

Older properties across Dorset and Devon often present challenges: out-of-square rooms, uneven walls from where old plasterwork has been patched, pipework that exits the wall in an inconvenient position. We assess this at the survey and tell you what's involved before we quote.

Tiling and finishing

Splashbacks, floor tiles, and wall tiling around extractor or window areas are all part of a complete kitchen fit. We tile as part of the job: the substrate is prepared correctly before any tile goes up (see bathroom tiling for why that matters, the same principles apply), grout colour coordinated with the kitchen style, silicone finished cleanly at all junctions.

Worktop fitting, plinths and cornice all follow the unit install. The sequence matters: worktops go in before the sink and tap are fitted, plinths go in last. We work through it in the right order and don't leave a job half-done because something needs to arrive or dry first.
