Exeter is at the western edge of our coverage area. We're based near Dorchester, which puts us about 45–50 minutes away via the A30, so we're honest: we take on jobs in and around Exeter that are worth the journey. That usually means bigger projects: heat pump installations, building extensions, full bathroom renovations, or refurbishments where multiple trades are involved over several days. For a dripping tap in the city centre, you'd be better served by someone local.
Heat pumps and renewables
Air-source heat pumps are one of the more common enquiries we get from the Exeter area. Exeter has a younger and more environmentally-aware population than much of Devon, and the interest in getting off gas or oil is real. We install air-source heat pumps correctly: that means properly sizing the unit, assessing whether existing radiators can handle lower flow temperatures, and carrying out the full install including the unvented cylinder and controls.
Where jobs qualify under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, we work alongside an MCS-accredited renewables partner so the grant stays accessible. That's currently worth £7,500 towards an air-source heat pump installation. We carry out the install; they handle the spec, certification and commissioning.
Building and extensions
Extensions, structural alterations and new builds are part of what we do. Properties on the outskirts of Exeter and in the surrounding villages often have scope for extension or conversion work, and we can handle the building alongside the plumbing and heating installation. Coordinating those elements through one team makes the project considerably smoother.
Bathroom work often sits alongside building projects out this way. An extension that needs an en suite fitted, a garage conversion adding a cloakroom, or a full bathroom renovation in an older Exeter property that hasn't been touched in years. Those are worth the journey and we handle the plumbing, tiling and fitting ourselves rather than coordinating separate trades.
Underfloor heating
Underfloor heating is particularly well-suited to properties being extended or renovated, and it pairs naturally with heat pump systems. For new screeded floors it's the obvious choice. For retrofits, low-profile systems can go over existing floors with around 15–20mm of added height. We survey first and tell you which is practical. See more on renewables and underfloor heating.
